The Band
Blather dates back to November 2003, when the final member was discovered through a personal ad posted in the Union tribune. Julien Cantelm was the last but certainly not the least musician to join Blather. Hours upon hours of jamming sessions proved to be the key when they got their first real gig at Winston’s in Ocean Beach only a month later.
If you aren’t familiar with their sound, they’re a mix of jazz, funk, blues, reggae, latin, bluegrass, and rock. Too many genres? Not really, the result of this mix is a fun, upbeat, and rockin’ sound that is all their own. These musicians found inspiration in a range of artists including Frank Zappa, The Band, King Crimson, Medeski Martin and Wood, Phish, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Oingo Boingo, and David Bowie. Blather loves having a good time and makes sure the crowd feels that vibe at each of their shows.
